Damen Services Brisbane, the Queensland Service Hub for the international Damen Shipyards Group, has hosted another successful seminar. The two-day technical seminar on automation and propulsion systems saw 20 industry professionals attend the event, which was this year, held in town. The Expert trainers were able to deliver a theoretical and practical insight, resulting in new and renewed skills for those who attended.

This two-day training seminar was delivered by Rolls-Royce service engineer, Richard Keir and Praxis training specialist, Damien Van Der Veen from Electronic Solutions Technology. Attending participants included representatives from Svitzer, Rivtow, Westug as well as several New Zealand port operators including CentrePort, Eastland Port and Nelson Port. The Rolls-Royce content was focused on the Aquamaster system and related control systems. The Praxis component focused on the Automation systems and controls. Both trainers placed emphasis on good fault finding and trouble shooting skills. The information provided was considered to be highly beneficial to operators, engineers and superintendents.

The seminar benefited from having a good mixture of theoretical and practical experience. Several tips and tricks were shared that will assist in good maintenance and overcoming issues that could develop during daily operations. Feedback from the attendants was resounding with very positive remarks and compliments, with many saying that the learnings will be valuable for future operations.

“Praxis information was very helpful for fault finding/understanding, Rolls-Royce information also very helpful, both will increase confidence onboard vessel”.

Furthermore, the seminar was a great networking opportunity for Damen operators to discuss their vessels and share experiences. We were fortunate to also be joined by Tom Charter from Asiaworld, who represents Damen Shipyards Group as the sales agent. Damen will continue to increase customer support in the Australia Pacific region and build on these strong working relationships.

Damen Service Brisbane is committed to providing operators with more seminars in the future including the option to mobilise the trainings so that they can be delivered onsite. This further allows the trainers to cater to the customers specific vessel and unique issues that may occur.
