To stay at the top, you need to innovate. And to develop and implement those ideas, you need to work together – sharing knowledge to stimulate development of the best possible products. This is why we work with customers such as the US Coast Guard, independent research organisations including Delft University of Technology, TNO and MARIN, suppliers and classification societies. And, of course, we listen and cooperate with our customers – building strong relationships to produce better products.
If suppliers innovate, we do too
If our suppliers improve their products with innovative solutions this can impact our designs. We therefore collaborate with our suppliers to ensure we offer a fully integrated, compatible solution. For example, running ships on LNG is an innovative solution boasting lower emissions. It’s a great solution, and one affects safety regulations and, therefore, on design.
Cooperation with independent research organisations
Investing in innovation means cooperating or forming partnerships with independent research organisations such as:
- Delft University of Technology
- Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN)
- Netherlands Organisation of Applied Scientific Research (TNO)
- Other reputed universities
Our special cooperation with Delft University of Technology yielded some truly pioneering designs such as the Enlarged Ship Concept and the Sea Axe.

CLASS APPROVED
Every vessel and product we develop must comply with the mandatory regulations and standards determined by classification societies. We work closely with these organisations – it’s more efficient. And, of course, classification societies have an enormous knowledge base to share.
