Technip’s ‘Global 1200’ upgraded at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam

‘Global 1200’

Technip’s vessel ‘Global 1200’ is one of two deep-water rigid pipe S-lay and heavy-lift vessels operated by the company. The work was divided into three phases, the first of which was a period in dry-dock for the ‘Global 1200’ to undergo her Special Periodical Survey and maintenance. Following this, the second phase involved upgrading the vessel’s DP capabilities. The third phase focused on refit of various pipe lay equipment and an upgrade to the 'Global 1200’s' stinger in anticipation of future projects.

The ultra-modern 3D seismic vessel 'Polarcus Naila' at Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam

'Polarcus Naila'

The ultra-modern 3D seismic vessel 'Polarcus Naila' arrived at Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam for its eight-week conversion. In addition to the propulsion upgrade the vessel underwent modification works in order to be classified as a special purpose ship. Furthermore, the scope of work included the installation of a Ballast Water Treatment system, installation of a new workboat and davits, the relocation of the MOB and a five-year special survey. The project was exemplary of the cooperation between Damen and its client and between the many specialised companies within Damen Shipyards Group.

Leg extension for 'Rowan Viking'

'Rowan Viking'

Damen Shiprepair & Conversion was awarded the contract by a subsidiary of Rowan Companies plc to remodel the 'Rowan Viking'. The 'Rowan Viking' is one of the largest of the Keppel FELS ‘N’ class drilling rigs. The rig had to be prepared for a job in the deep Norwegian waters for which it needed a leg extension. The legs were lengthened by 10 metres to an impressive 180 metres at the quayside of Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen. Damen Shiprepair and Conversion’s special task force ‘Offshore & Conversion’ supervised the project.
