The event is being held under the official patronage of the Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah.

Damen Booth

At Gulf Defense and Aerospace 2015, Damen will be present to showcase its broad-ranging defense and security portfolio.

A whole host of information will be available to stand visitors. As well as general information about the Damen Shipyards Group and Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding, visitors will be able to find out more about Damen Sigma (Corvettes and Missile Boats), Stan Patrol, Joint Support Vessels, Offshore Patrol Vessels and Frigates.

There will also be information about Damen Interceptors and RHIBs, including the new Damen RHIB 1050; the next generation in rigid hull inflatable boats.

Additionally, visitors will have the chance to learn more about Damen’s sail-training vessels, such as the Shabab Oman II of the Royal Navy of Oman.

Dutch Navy Selects Hybrid Tug Technology

A procurement agreement between the navies of the Netherlands and Sweden has resulted in a joint order for three ASD 2810 Hybrid and two ASD 3010 ICE tugs. The tug contract was put out to tender under strict European rules with the criteria advertised well in advance, and after a thorough appraisal process Damen emerged the clear winner. The joint procurement agreement was established both to create larger orders that would be more attractive to potential bidders and to deliver greater cost benefits.

Although Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding acts as the prime contractor, it is this unique cooperation between the Royal Netherlands Navy, institutes of the Netherlands Organization of Applied Scientific Research (TNO), MARIN, Netherlands Universities and Dutch Maritime Industry.
